Permission, Belief and Intention
Recently I was in a café by myself, waiting for my breakfast when I was approached by a stranger. He started with small talk:
Where are you from? (He had seen my Samoan wrist tattoos and correctly assumed I was from New Zealand)
How long have you been Australia?
When was the last time you went to New Zealand.
The basic things fellow expatriates converse about.
Then, almost out of nowhere, he started what could only be described as a sermon.
He spoke passionately about his religion, his mission to spread the good word, helping the youth, serving the community. All good, respectful things.
But here’s where it gets sticky… My food arrived at the table, and he prayed over it.
He did not ask my permission to bless my food.
I’m not offended by prayer and in my maternal grandparents’ house the food was always blessed at the start of the meal. So I said “thank you”, wished him well and said goodbye.
While I genuinely believe that faith is a beautiful thing, this well intentioned act made me think about permission and consent.
Permission and respecting other people’s free-will are the pillars I live by.
These pillars align with my core value of Integrity.
I do believe this gentleman also lives with integrity, but his presumption that I would be open to receiving his blessing, rather than performing one of my own faith, made me a tiny bit uncomfortable.
It was not a big deal at all.
It’s just the behind-the-scenes story which inspired my recent Instagram series about Permission, Belief and Intention, compiled below.
Permission
As a certified energy healer (and someone who respects everyone’s free-will) I know that permission is vital.
Without permission, the results of an Emotion Code or Body Code session are likely to be the practitioner's own imbalances or assumptions.
Something I hadn’t previously considered is that 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲.
In one of Brendon Burchard’s daily fire recordings on the Growth Day app he made the point of saying “I listened to my friend‘s situation and then I asked him ‘Do you need to vent or would you like some coaching?’ because you have to get permission. You can’t just launch into tools if they’re not ready.”
Mind-blown, eyes opened, clarity achieved.
Unsolicited advice has always triggered me.
It makes me feel diminished.
Despite their (hopefully) well meaning intentions, they may as well have said “I know best and I’m better than you” because that’s how low I’m left feeling after receiving unpermitted advice.
If you’ve also felt this way, here’s the healing-action-plan I'm going to take to tackle this feeling:
🛡️ Release defensiveness
🤫 Erase programming of feeling ‘less than’
🧲 Release any imbalances within me which are attracting these interactions
🗣️ Strengthen the Throat chakra
💪 Feel empowered to say “I’m not looking for advice right now”, “I don’t think that aligns with my goals” or even a simple “No thank you.”

Permission vs Belief
Giving permission for a session vs Believing in energy healing
I had an interesting conversation this week about this topic, which is also featured in my energy healing FAQs.
It is possible for people to give permission/purchase a distance energy healing session without believing it will work.
Sometimes loved ones can feel pressured into trying something they don’t think will help, just to make us happy.
🤔 Will they see results? Possibly.
It depends how strong their disbelief and resistance is and how open their subconscious mind is to changing.
As much as we would like to help the people in our lives, we can’t rush someone else’s healing timeline or force them to use the tools which work for us.
What we can do is hold space for what they need and have faith that they will find what resonates with their beliefs, when they are ready.
And who knows? Perhaps if they see your results they may become more open to the process or begin their own healing journey in a way which inspires us.
Wishing you grace, grit and gratitude,

Belief & Intention
Will Energy Healing work if I don’t believe?
This is another common concern from my energy healing FAQs.
Often, people are curious to try energy healing based on a friend’s recommendation or a family member’s transformation, but they aren’t really sure IF or HOW it works.
That’s okay! In fact, it’s my story too.
When I first read about energy healing, I thought “what a load of 💩” 😂😅 But then I heard the still small voice say “but what if it does work?” 🤔
That split second of suspended disbelief was enough. That brief lowering of my cynical, skeptical shields was the start of my healing journey.
The truth is that you can still see results and feel a difference after an energy healing session, even if you don’t fully believe or understand the process. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
Intention is a powerful thing.
If you too can suspend disbelief just enough to set an intention of being open to healing and feeling better - you will!
During each distance energy healing session, I set a genuine intention to release the imbalances which will allow your body to begin/continue to heal itself and have the greatest positive impact on your life.
Together with your intention to release stuck energies, we can achieve a lot more than with my intention alone.
